Jan Louka, ostarjeli violončelist, prisiljen je prihvatiti fiktivni brak s Ruskinjom kako bi zaradio novac. Međutim, kada ona iznenada emigrira na Zapad, ostavlja mu svog petogodišnjeg sina Kolju.
