Haker Kevin Flynn mladi je računalni programer ENVOM korporacije. On pokušava probiti računalni sustav tvrtke kako bi došao do podataka o računalnim igrama koje su trvtku lansirale na tron industrije. Kevin zna da je njegov šef ukrao software njegovih igara no želi to i dokazati. Uz pomoć prijatelja Lore i Alana, Kevin mora smisliti kako nadvladati "Master Control Program", umjetnu inteligenciju koja čuva sve podatke. Kevin slučajno prijeđe u računalni kod gdje je prisilje sudjelovati u opasnim igrama unutarnjeg svijeta. Njegove šanse porastu kada sretne Trona - Alanovu računalnu projekciju.
