Dok se uragan približava malom gradu Homestead na Floridi, stanovnici se pripremaju za katastrofu. Nakon što oluja prođe, grad je u ruševinama, a mnogi ljudi su nestali. Rose Varon, djevojčica koja traži svoju mačku, primjećuje svjetla koja se spuštaju na vodu. Njezin ujak Dave Groves, poznat po vjerovanju u vanzemaljske teorije zavjere, odlučuje istražiti. Kasnije pronalazi misteriozni kostur u vodi i pokazuje ga svom šogoru, Russellu Varonu, rendžeru koji obećava da će istražiti.
