S iznenadnom smrću kralja Uthera, kaos prijeti da zahvati Britaniju. Čarobnjak Merlin ima vizije mračne budućnosti i postavlja mladog i naglog Arthura, Utherovog nepoznatog sina i nasljednika odgajanog kao običan čovjek, za novog kralja. Njih dvojica se smještaju u dvorac Camelot sa svojim saveznicima, među kojima su Arthurova biološka majka, njegov posvojeni brat i četvorka odanih ratnika. Iz Camelota, Arthur pokušava izgraditi novu i bolju Britaniju, gdje ljudi mogu živjeti u miru. U međuvremenu, Arthurova hladna polusestra Morgan planira mu oduzeti krunu. Protjerana od strane Uthera, koji je bio odgovoran za ubojstvo njezine majke kako bi na prijestolje postavio Arthurovu majku, Morgan je odgovorna za Utherovu smrt i želi vladati kao njegova nasljednica. Uz pomoć svoje vjerne sluškinje Vivian i lukave časne sestre Sybil, Morgan se nastani u dvorcu Pendragon, odakle spletkari protiv Arthura.
