Prije trideset godina čudan fenomen nazvan "svemirski potres" uništio je središte Euroazije, odnivši živote najmanje 150 milijuna ljudi. Od tada manji svemirski potresi neredovito muče svijet. Shido Itsuka, naizgled običan srednjoškolac, nailazi na tajanstvenu djevojku na samom mjestu svemirskog potresa i saznaje da je ona jedan od "Duhova" koji su pravi uzrok svemirskih potresa koji se događaju kad se manifestiraju u svijetu. Regrutiran je da iskoristi svoju tajanstvenu sposobnost da zapečati moći Duhova, čime ih sprječava da budu prijetnja čovječanstvu.
