Strastvena priča o osnovnoškolcu čije se misli i snovi gotovo u potpunosti vrte oko ljubavi prema nogometu. 11-godišnji Tsubasa Oozora počeo je igrati nogomet vrlo mlad, i iako je to uglavnom bio rekreativni sport za njegove prijatelje, za njega se to razvilo u svojevrsnu opsesiju. Kako bi ostvario svoj san na najbolji mogući nivo osnovne škole, Tsubasa se s majkom seli u grad Nankatsu, poznat po izvrsnim nogometnim timovima osnovne škole. Iako je bio daleko najbolji u svom starom gradu, Nankatsu ima puno više konkurencije i trebat će mu sva njegova vještina i talent da se istakne iz ove nove mase.
