Akaza Akari életében egy nagyon fontos pillanat érkezett el: középiskolás lett. Abba a középiskolába jelentkezett, ahova két gyerekkori barátja, Toshino Kyouko és Funami Yui is jár. Mikor megkérdezik Akaritól, hogy melyik klubba fog járni, ő vidáman vallja be, hogy a Vidám Klubba, amit Kyouko és Yui alapítottak. Később pedig betéved hozzájuk Yoshikawa Chinatsu, aki a teaklubba akar jelentkezni (a Vidám Klub titokban a teaklub termében van), de Kyouko meggyőzi, és így inkább a Vidám Klubhoz csatlakozik. A klub viszont gyakorlatilag semmiről sem szól, így kénytelenek ők kitalálni mindig valamit (ahogy az a hasonló slice of life animékben lenni szokott). Később pedig még több szereplőt ismerhetünk meg.
