A hivatal rozoga, düledező intézmény, két alkalmazottal. Ám az igazi gondot nem is ez, hanem a rivális Clacks Company jelenti, amely a monopóliumát félti ettől a lépéstől. Éppen ezért a vezetője, Reacher Gilt semmitől sem riad vissza, hogy akadályozza Lipwiget a munkában.Moist, a rutinos hóhányó elvállalta Ankh-Morpork városka postahivatalának vezetését. Nem mintha sok választása lett volna, mégiscsak jobb, mint az akasztófa. A cinikus fickó beleveti magát a munkába, nem rettenti el a nehézségek sora sem.
