Kaede Honjou diundang oleh temannya Risa Shiramine untuk memainkan game MMO virtual reality bersamanya. Sementara Kaede tidak membenci game, apa yang benar-benar tidak dia sukai adalah kesakitan. Dia menciptakan karakter bernama Maple, dan memutuskan untuk memasukkan semua poinnya ke dalam VIT untuk meminimalkan rasa sakit. Akibatnya, dia bergerak perlahan, tidak bisa menggunakan sihir, dan bahkan kelinci pun bisa mendapatkan yang terbaik darinya. Namun ternyata, dia memperoleh skill yang dikenal sebagai "Absolute Defense" sebagai hasil dari poinnya yang memompa ke dalam VIT, serta "Counter Skill" yang bekerja melawan gerakan khusus. Sekarang, dengan kemampuannya untuk meniadakan semua kerusakan, dia melakukan petualangan.
