Cameriere tuttofare in un albergo di lusso, Jean si innamora a prima vista di Irene, bella e sofisticata accompagnatrice di facoltosi uomini d'affari. Per un caso Irene dapprima scambia Jean per una potenziale preda, poi, accortasi dell'equivoco, lo lascia ma la scintilla è oramai scoccata. Ridottosi sul lastrico per fingersi quello che non è, Jean si fa insegnare il mestiere di gigolò da Irene e, nonostante tutto, ha grande successo.
