2010년 10월 FX Networks에서 방영을 시작한 코미디물. 주인공인 루이는 뉴욕에서 어린 딸 둘을 키우며 사는 40대 이혼남으로, 코미디 클럽을 전전하며 밥벌이를 하며, 작고 낡은 아파트에 사는 가난한 스탠드업 코미디언이다. 뚱뚱한 대머리에 외모도 그저 그런지라 여성에게 인기도 없고, 그나마 루이에게 호감을 갖고있는 이혼녀 파멜라조차도 루이를 이성으로 봐주지 않는다. 간혹 코미디언으로서의 인기를 이용해 헌팅이라도 할라치면 절대로 일이 잘 풀리는 경우가 없고, 쌀쌀맞게 퇴짜맞거나 골치아픈 상황에 휘말리게 된다.
