1956-aisiais JAV pasirodė pirmoji įgarsinta L.Tolstojaus romano „Karas ir taika“ ekranizacija. Ankstesnės trys buvo sukurtos nebyliojo kino epochoje. Filmo žvaigžde tapo Odri Hebern, ekrane įkūnijusi Natašą Rostovą. Kai pasirodė šis filmas, aktorei buvo 27-eri. Miniatiūrinė Odri sugebėjo perteikti L.Tolstojaus herojės vidinio pasaulio sudėtingumą. Ir dabar, dar sykį pažiūrėjus filmą su O.Hebern ir palyginus jį su kitomis „Karo ir taikos“ ekranizacijomis, galima dar kartą įsitikinti, kad amerikietė aktorė perprato rusės Natašos Rostovos charakterį, perėmė įpročius, pažvelgė į savo personažo sielos gelmes ir išreiškė jos meilę. Nors 1956 metų „Karo ir taikos“ ekranizacija vis sensta, savo žavesio nepraranda. Priešingai, tai retro filmas, kurį galima su malonumu žiūrėti dar ir dar kartą ir vėl pasiduoti pagrindinės herojės, vaidinamos O.Hebern, žavesiui.
