Į Graikijos sostinę atostogų atvyksta pasiturintis amerikietis - profesionalus apgavikas Česteris Makfarlandas (aktorius Viggo Mortensen'as) kartu su žmona Kolete (akt. Kirsten Dunst). Lankydamiesi Akropolyje, jie susipažįsta su jaunu, žaviu amerikiečiu Ridalu (akt. Oscar'as Isaac'as), kuris, šalia savo pagrindinės gido veiklos taip pat apgaudinėja patiklius turistus. Iš žmonių patiklumo gyvenančiam Česteriui patinka Ridalo apsukrumas, o pastarasis susižavi tiek Česterio meistriškumu, tiek jo žmonos grožiu, tiek prabangiu poros gyvenimo būdu.
