Naujos pradžios ieškanti šeima įsikrausto į apleistą namą nė nenutuokdami, jog jo palėpėje gyvena vaiduoklis. Šeimos narys Kevinas aptinka nekalbųjį vaiduoklį Ernestą, kuris bando išgąsdinti jį, bet galiausiai jie abu tampa draugais ir Kevinas jam padeda prisiminti Ernesto praeitį.
Visų šių įvykių sūkuryje išplinta virusinis jų vaizdo įrašas internete. Tapę įžymiais Ernestas ir Kevinas ne tik turi susidoroti su užklupusiu dėmesiu, išaiškinti praieties paslaptis, bet ir neleisti būti sugautiems FTB agentų, kurie vaiduoklį nori sučiupti tyrimų tikslais. O sutikę Ernesto praeities priešą - dar nugalėti ir jį...
