Pagrindinio filmo herojaus vardas - Viljamas Bleikas (Johnny Depp), t.y. toks pat, kaip ir garsaus anglų poeto. Jis vyksta į "Laukinių Vakarų" užkampyje įsikūrusį miestelį, kur jam pažadėta buhalterio vieta. Amerikos pasienio miestelyje herojus atrodo lyg balta varna ir vis dėlto jis randa sau artimą žmogų - salūne dirbančią merginą. Tačiau būtent dėl jos Viljamas įsivelia į konfliktą. Jis priverstas kuo greičiau sprukti… Pasiklydusį ir sunkiai sužeistą Viljamą Bleiką suranda labai keistas indėnas, vardu Niekas (Gary Farmer). Jis įsitikinęs, jog tai - iš numirusiųjų prisikėlęs garsusis poetas! Kartu jie leidžiasi į keistą mistišką kelionę po prievartos ir chaoso kupiną "Laukinių Vakarų" pasaulį…
