Den lidenskapelige historien om en barneskoleelev hvis tanker og drømmer nesten utelukkende dreier seg om kjærligheten til fotball. 11 år gamle Tsubasa Oozora begynte å spille fotball i svært ung alder, og selv om det stort sett bare var en fritidsport for vennene hans, utviklet det seg for ham til en slags besettelse. For å følge drømmen sin så godt han kunne fra barneskolen, flytter Tsubasa med moren til Nankatsu by, som er kjent for sine utmerkede fotballag på barneskolen. Men selv om han lett var best i sin gamle by, har Nankatsu mye mer konkurranse, og han vil trenge all sin ferdighet og talent for å skille seg ut fra denne nye gjengen.
