Acesta este ultimul film al trilogiei Bleu/Blanc/Rouge, care explorează cele trei mari teme ale democrației moderne: Libertate, Egalitate, Fraternitate. Acțiunea se desfășoară în mare parte în Elveția. O tânără de profesie manechin dă peste un câine cu mașina. Ea pornește împreună cu animalul în căutarea stăpânului. Îl găsește și constată că acesta e un domn în vârstă, un vechi magistrat, care încă mai spionează conversațiile telefonice ale vecinilor. Între cei doi se dezvoltă o prietenie, curiozitatea tinerei fiind alimentată de confesiunile pe care i le face fostul magistrat.
