Protagonistul acestui film este Bill, un tip singuratic care doreste sa devina scriitor. Pentru a gasi subiecte, personaje pentru a scrie incepe sa urmareasca oameni prin Londra, doar ca isi incalca regula de a nu urmari niciodata aceeasi persoana de doua ori. Astfel, Cobb, o persoana pe care Bill a urmarit-o de mai multe ori, intra in conversatie cu el si ii dezvaluie acestuia ca el este hot de locuinte. Profitand de fascinatia lui Bill pentru Cobb, acesta din urma il ia si pe Bill cu el pentru a sparge apartamente. De aici , lumea lui Bill se schimba, mai ales ca apare si o femeie, al carei apartament a fost spart chiar de cei doi. Cobb nu este multumit de acest lucru, dar lucrurile iau o intorsatura ciudata si Bill va afla ca nimic nu este ceea ce pare.
