Nicholas "Oz" Oseransky (MATTHEW PERRY) este un dentist de treabă care locuiește într-o suburbie din Montreal. Noul său vecin de vis-à-vis, Jimmy "Laleaua" Tudeski (BRUCE WILLIS) este un ucigaș plătit care se ascunde de o periculoasă familie mafiotă din Chicago. Deși sunt atât de diferiți, Oz și Jimmy au în comun un lucru: cineva încearcă să-i omoare pe amândoi. Pentru Jimmy, evitarea unei echipe de criminali este o joacă de copil. Pentru Oz, însă, este ceva cu totul ieșit din comun. Pentru a rămâne în viață, cei doi vor trebui să coopereze - Jimmy folosindu-și viclenia și sângele rece, iar Oz... uneltele de stomatolog.
