Erica Bain, prezentatoare radio, duce o viață frumoasă alături de logodnicul ei, David. Totul se prăbușește când, în urma unui atac brutal, David este ucis, iar Erica supraviețuiește, dar rămâne traumatizată. Devastată de pierdere și copleșită de frică, ea începe să patruleze pe străzile New York-ului, pedepsindu-i pe răufăcători.
