Dacă psihiatrul din New York, Sobel nu mai crede în eficacitatea cunoștințelor sale despre pacienții care suferă de nevroze îngrozitor de comune, se va răzgândi când Paul Vitti, cunoscut drept unul dintre cei mai puternici gangsteri din New York, va trece cu autoritate ușa cabinetului lui.
