Acum treizeci de ani, un fenomen ciudat numit "cutremur spațial" a devastat centrul Eurasiei, luând viața a cel puțin 150 de milioane de oameni. De atunci, cutremurele spațiale mai mici afectează lumea într-un mod neregulat. Shido Itsuka, un licean aparent obișnuit, dă peste o fată misterioasă la epicentrul unui cutremur spațial și află că ea este una dintre "Spiritele" care sunt adevărata cauză a cutremurelor spațiale care apar atunci când se manifestă în lume. Este recrutat să folosească această abilitate misterioasă de a sigila puterile Spiritelor, împiedicându-le astfel să fie o amenințare pentru omenire.
