Dráma Mníchov 1972 rekonštruuje jednu z najtragickejších udalostí moderných dejín očami médií a ukazuje, ako zásadne zmenila ich prácu. Hlavným hrdinom príbehu je mladý ambiciózny producent Geoff, ktorý sa chce presadiť pred svojím šéfom, televíznou legendou Roonom Arledgeom. Spolu s nemeckou tlmočníčkou Marianne a mentorom Marvinom Baderom sa nečakane ocitne v epicentre diania a rozhodne sa využiť príležitosť, nech to stojí, čo to stojí. Rastúce smrteľné nebezpečenstvo pre izraelských rukojemníkov však čoraz viac vyostruje boj medzi Geoffovými ambíciami a jeho túžbou urobiť to, čo je správne.
