Nevystopovateľný vrah svoje obete pred zavraždením sníma webovou kamerou a signál vysiela na internete, pričom zneužíva odvrátené stránky ľudského charakteru, zvedavosť a vrodenú potrebu človeka robiť potajomky niečo zakázané. Čím viac návštevníkov tieto stránky navštívi, tým rýchlejšie dochádza k usmrteniu obete. Keď návštevnosť prekročí stanovený limit, vrah svoju obeť pred očami publika zahubí. Agenti FBI na čele s Jennifer Marshovou si nevedia rady. Jedno je však isté, čím dlhšie im bude trvať, než dolapia vraha, tým budú smrteľné internetové stránky populárnejšie a viac ľudí príde o život. Agenti FBI pritom vôbec netušia, že hlavným objektom záujmu majiteľa stránok sú práve oni sami! Keď do rúk brutálneho vraha padne agent Dowd, jeho kolegyňa Marshová musí spojiť svoje sily s miestnym policajným detektívom Ericom Boxom a nájsť vraha, skôr než jej kolega podľahne vražednej hre.
