La Patrona je španielsky hovoriaca telenovela produkovaná americkou televíznou sieťou Telemundo Studios v Miami a mexickým Argos Comunicación. Telenovela je remake venezuelskej telenovely La Dueña, ktorú napísal José Ignacio Cabrujas. Názov odráža miestny výraz alebo slang v Mexiku, ktorý oslovuje osobu považovanú za hlavného šéfa. Názov však zároveň odráža boj protagonistu aj antagonistu o získanie moci, autority a rešpektu v pracovnom prostredí, ktoré sa tradične považuje za mužskú prácu.
