Vitajte na nočnej službe v nemocnici San Antonio Memorial, kde každú noc tím doktorov bojuje o životy svojich pacientov. Patrí medzi nich aj TC Callahan, ktorý strávil niekoľko mesiacov na Blízkom východe a až tu zistil, že najťažšie bitky sa odohrávajú na domácom poli. On aj ďalší v jeho tíme vedia, že občas nejaký ten kanadský žartík dokáže odľahčiť mnohokrát príliš napätú situáciu. Lenže teraz je nočná služba pod novým vedením. A nový šéf Michael Ragosa sa oveľa viac než o pacientov zaujíma o to, kde by ušetril. Ale TC ešte nikdy nepočul pravidlo, ktoré by sa nedalo porušiť a nikdy nepoznal osobu, ktorej by sa nemohol postaviť. Keď chce Ragosa vojnu, tak ju bude mať.
