Ústredným motívom je vražda siedmich ľudí, ktorá sa stala pred siedmimi rokmi na ostrove blízko pobrežia Seattlu. Práve na tomto ostrove plánuje svadbu Henry Dunn so svojou priateľkou Trish Wellingtonovou a priplávajú spolu s priateľmi a rodinou na ostrov.
