The Osterman Weekend, zadnji film velikega, ikoničnega in nadlegendarnega režiserja Sama Peckinpaha, ki je bil takrat že zelo bolan in je umrl samo leto kasneje, star 59 let, je dovolj zanimiv, dovolj napet, dovolj intriganten, dobro posnet in z vrhunsko igralsko zasedbo okrašen politični triler, v katerem CIA agent Laurence Fassett (John Hurt), ki mu KGB agenti umorijo ženo (Merte Van Kamp), kar po kameri spremlja njegov nadrejeni Maxwell Danforth (Burth Lancaster), o čemer Fassett seveda nima pojma, za nevarno in prebrisano igro angažira zvezdniškega voditelja politične oddaje, Johna Tannerja (Rutger Hauer), da bi dokazal, da so njegovi trije najboljši prijatelji, tv producent Bernard Osterman (Craig T. Nelson), plastični kirurg Richard Tremayne (Dennis Hopper) in borzni posrednik Joseph Cardone (Chris Sarandon), v resnici ruski agenti.
