Zgodba opisuje dogodke, ki so se zgodili pred dogodki iz filma Kralj škorpijonov. Potem ko je videl umreti lastnega očeta, kralja Akkada, mladi Mathayus priseže, da bo postal najmogočnejši bojevnik. Ko odraste in zaključi z napornim urjenjem, izve, da je morilec njegovega očeta, Sargon, postal novi kralj Akkada. Mathayus je odločen, da bo maščeval očetovo smrt, toda pot do maščevanja ni lahka, saj se Sargon pri svojih spletkah poslužuje črne magije. Sčasoma Mathayus odraste v mogočnega vojščaka, pred katerim trepeta ves starodavni svet.
