Ko 16-letnica iz majhnega kraja nepričakovano zanosi v vrstnikom iz srednje šole, sklene oddati otroka "idealnemu" paru, ki ga je našla med oglasi, vendar ugotovi, da bo prav posvojitev otroka očitno povzročila njuno razvezo.Juno (Ellen Page) je sicer nenavadno brihtna 16-letnica, a ko nepričakovano zanosi v vrstnikom iz srednje šole Bleekerjem (Michael Cera), hitro odkrije, kako malo ve o življenju. K sreči sta njena starša nadpovprečno razumevajoča in zaupata njeni presoji, najboljša prijateljica Leah pa ji je vedno pripravljena priskočiti na pomoč. Z njeno pomočjo Juno naleti na vzoren predmestni par, Marka (Jason Bateman) in Vanesso (Jennifer Garner), ki bi bila idealna posvojitelja za nerojenega otroka. Zdaj se Juno znajde pred kopico resnih dilem, ko se bo morala zanesti na podporo družine in prijateljev, da bi lahko odkrila, kakšna oseba je v resnici.
