Policist John Kimble je na ulicah Los Angelesa doživel že marsikaj hudega, zato ima trdo kožo. Toda nič ga ni moglo pripraviti na to, kar ga čaka na skrivni nalogi v vrtcu. Pod krinko vzgojitelja mora pred nevarnim zločincem zaščititi enega svojih malih varovancev. Seveda se John med malčki sprva ne znajde najbolje, vendar mu kmalu tudi vloga vzgojitelja zleze pod kožo. Poleg tega se zaplete v romanco z učiteljico Joyce, življenje pa mu greni le nepridiprav, s katerim ga čaka napet končni obračun.
