V majhnem mestu, v hiši z velikim dvoriščem, živi mojster Miha in njegovih pet gradbenih strojev: valjar Tone, mešalnik Miško, dvigalo Maksi, bager Vojc in buldožer Drejc. Skupaj z Malči, Mihovo pomočnico, in črtasto muco Mici so kos vsem zahtevnim gradbenim podvigom: polaganju cevi, popravljanju cest in železniških mostov. Mojster Miha gre v korak s časom: v pisarni ima faksirno napravo in na terenu je dosegljiv po prenosnem telefonu. Sporočilo zgodb pa je brezčasno: prijatelji so na svetu zato, da drug drugemu ponudijo ramo, ko imajo težave, in si med seboj pomagajo. Ter se skupaj veliko smejijo.
