Najbolj znano in priljubljeno dansko serijo spremljamo v Köbenhavnu in se vrti okrog detektivke Sare Lund. Vsaka sezona predstavi nove primere zločinov, ki se dogajajo vsak dan, vsaka epizoda pa pokriva novo 24-urno preiskavo. Policijska preiskava krutega umora in posilstva mladega dekleta je dolgotrajna in temeljita. Detektivka Sarah bi morala oditi na Švedsko in začeti novo življenje z zaročencem, vendar tega primera nikakor ne more pustiti za sabo. Je na čelu preiskave in tesno sodeluje s svojo zamenjavo, detektivom Janom Meyerjem. Politik Troels Hartmann je sredi kampanje za župana, ko ga novi dokazi povezujejo z umorom. V dvajsetih dneh se število osumljencev množi, zgodba pa se obrne v nepričakovano smer.
