Minilo je že več kot 40 let od zadnje vojne med prebivalci Dvanajstih kolonij in Cyloni, roboti z zmožnostjo samozavedanja, ki so se zarotili proti lastnim stvarnikom. Roboti so spoštovali premirje, s katerim se je končala prva vojna, obljubljeni diplomatski odnosi med človeško raso in roboti pa se niso nikoli uresničili. Cyloni so se za dolga leta ovili v tišino, vse do pogubnega napada.Pod poveljstvom Adame se bojna ladja Galaktika, na kateri sta tudi Adamova najboljša pilotka Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff) in njegov sin Apollo, poda v brezupen boj. Člani posadke se morajo odločiti, ali naj se uprejo veliko močnejšim Cylonom ali naj zase raje poiščejo nov planet …
