Strastna zgodba osnovnošolca, katerega misli in sanje se skoraj v celoti vrtijo okoli ljubezni do nogometa. 11-letni Tsubasa Oozora je začel igrati nogomet zelo mlad, in čeprav je bil to večinoma rekreativni šport za njegove prijatelje, se je zanj razvil v nekakšno obsedenost. Da bi uresničil svoje sanje po najboljših močeh osnovne šole, se Tsubasa z mamo preseli v mesto Nankatsu, ki je znano po odličnih nogometnih ekipah osnovne šole. Čeprav je bil v svojem starem mestu nedvomno najboljši, ima Nankatsu veliko več konkurence in potreboval bo vse svoje spretnosti in talent, da izstopa iz nove množice.
