Након што јој дечко под неуверљивим изговором откаже излазак, седамнаестогодишња Крис, успркос томе што је одлучила да престане да ради као дадиља, пристане да проведе вече чувајући децу породичних познаника у предграђу. Чим Крис стигне у њихову кућу и родитељи оду на забаву, она прими позив од пријатељице Бренде која је у невољи и преклиње Крис да аутомобилом дође по њу у град. Не хтевши да остави пријатељицу на цедилу, Крис стави децу у свој аутомобил и крене аутопутем према центру града. Кад им се на путу пробуши гума, то ће бити тек почетак невоља.
