Прича је то о двојици пријатеља Вајату и Билију који продајом одређене количине дроге скупе новац за пут на фестивал (точније Марди Грас) у Њу Орлеансу. На пут се упуте на својим моторима који ће им пружити тај нужан осећај слободе док безбрижно возе према циљу. Путем сусретну адвоката и локалног пијанца Џорџа који им се придружи. Нажалост, уз неколицину добрих ликова, сусретну и гомилу примитиваца који не прихватајући њихов начин живљења, што изазове низ догађаја који заврше трагично по наше ликове.
