Jednog dana, dok igraju online igru Elder Tales, 30,000 igrači iznenada se nađu zarobljeni u drugom svetu. Tamo, osmogodišnji veteran igrač Shiroe takođe biva ostavljen. Zarobljeni igrači su još uvek živi, ali ostaju u borbi sa čudovištima. Igrači ne razumeju šta im se dogodilo i beže u Akibu, najveći grad u Tokiju, gde su bačeni u haos.
