Kaede Honjou je pozvana od strane svoje prijateljice Risa Shiramine da igra MMO igru virtuelne stvarnosti sa njom. Iako Kaede ne voli igre, ono što ona stvarno, zaista ne voli je da bude u bolovima. Ona stvara lik po imenu Javor, i odlučuje da stavi sve svoje tačke u VIT kako bi se smanjio bol. Kao rezultat toga, ona se kreće sporo, ne može da koristi magiju, pa čak i zec može da izvuče najbolje iz nje. Ali, kako se ispostavilo, ona stiče veštinu poznatu kao "Apsolutna odbrana" kao rezultat njenog pumpanja poena u VIT, kao i "Counter Skill" koja radi protiv specijalnih poteza. Sada, sa svojom sposobnošću da poništi svu štetu, ona ide u avanture.
