Nattklubbsvärlden på 80-talet i Queens, New York. Ett regelrätt krig om kontrollen över nattlivet pågår mellan NYPD och den ryska maffian. När maffian börjar hota poliskårens familjer, trappas kriget upp. NYPD sätter upp banderoller med texten "We own the night" på polishusens fasader och ökar insatsen för att motverka maffian. En nattklubbschef försöker rädda sin bror, som är polis, undan den skoningslösa ryska maffian som är ute efter hans liv.
