Året är 1794. Under tiden som ismassorna håller hans skepp i ett dödsgrepp, räddar Kapten Walton livet på en vilden och nästan vansinnig man. Robert De Niro ser vi i ännu en en fantastisk rollprestation som det mardrömsaktiga resultat av Frankensteins arbete. Han är monstret som svär en fruktansvärd hämnd över sin skapare.
