Martin ve Rodie bir hastanenin kanser hastalarına ayrılan odasında ilk kez karşı karşıya gelirler. İkisi de çok ciddi kanser hastasıdır. Yaşamlarının son günlerini bir hastanede gözlem altında geçireceklerdir. Martin kabına sığmayan dinamit gibi bir gençtir. Ölümünün çok yaklaştığını bildiği için bu son günlerini çok hareketli yaşamaktadır. Kendi halinde bir tip olan Rodie'yi de bu düşüncesine ortak eder.
