Tamkang Lisesi'nde müzik öğretmeni olan babası Chin (Antony Wong) ile birlikte yaşamaktadır. İkisi de müzik ve piyano da son derece iyidir. Tamkang Lisesi'nin ilk gününde, Lun kampüste sınıf arkadaşı ile yürürken gizemli bir piyano sesi dikkatini çeker. Müziği takip ettiğinde ise burda kız için ethereal (uhrevi, ruh gibi, semavi) tanımı geçiyor. Eski müzik odasında piyano çalan kızı bulur. Piyano çalan bu kız, Yu (Guey Lun-Mei), Lun'un sınıf arkadaşlarından biridir. Her zaman okula geç kalmaktadır ve bu nedenle daima Lun'un yanındaki sıranın en arkasına oturmaktadır. İkisi, zamanla yakın arkadaş olurlar ve vakitlerinin çoğunu birlikte geçirmeye başlarlar. "Seni ilk gördüğüm gün çaldığın melodinin adı neydi" diye sordu Lun. "Bu benim sırrım" diye fısıldadı kulağına Yu.
