Edgar Allen Poe uyarlaması olan Roger Corman filmi. Gotik klasikler arasında yer alan filmde İspanyol Engizisyon işkencecisinin oğlu Nicholas Medina eşini kaybetmiştir. Babasının annesini öldürme anılarını sürekli hatırlayan Nicholas'ın eşi Elizabeth'in ölümü sırdır. Elizabeth'in erkek kardeşi Francis, bu ölümü araştırmak için Medina şatosuna gelir. Acılar içindeki Medina'yı oyuna getirmeyi konu edinen bu korku filminde Corman, filmi meşhur dekorlarıyla işkence durumunun klostrofobik atmosferiyle yoğurmuştur.
