Patience Portefeux, Paris'te narkotikle mücadele biriminde tercüman olarak çalışan bir kadındır. Patience gün boyunca şehrin en büyük uyuşturucu tacirleri arasındaki günlük konuşmaları tercüme eder. Akşamları ise bakım tesisinde kalan annesi ile ilgilenir. Onun hayatı, uyuşturucu tacirlerinden birinin annesini tanıdığını fark etmesiyle bambaşka bir hal alır. Annesini korumak için harekete geçen Patience, bu süreçte uyuşturucu kaçakçılığı dünyasına dahil olmaya başlar. Çok geçmeden Patience, umutsuzca ihtiyaç duyduğu ekstra geliri elde etmek için, içeriden bilgi alıp, polis kaynaklarını kullanarak kendi suç ağını kurar ve Mama Weed'e dönüşür.
