Nội dung chính xoay quanh Stuart Shepard – một PR chuyên làm việc đánh bóng tên tuổi của những người nổi tiếng, có vợ tên là Kelly. Ngoài ra, anh ta có thêm một cô tình nhân nổi tiếng là Pam. Bốt điện thoại là nơi mà anh ta thường xuyên liên lạc với cô ả, tránh vợ kiểm tra và phát hiện. Như mọi ngày, Stuart không quên ra bốt điện thoại gọi cho Pam. Sau khi bấm số nói lời yêu thương với cô tình nhân bé nhỏ, anh gác máy ra về. Bất ngờ, anh vừa gác máy chưa kịp rời đi thì chuông điện thoại lại reo. Tò mò nhấc máy thì một giọng nói lạ cất lên đe dọa anh, yêu cầu anh gọi cho vợ là Kelly thú nhận tất cả mọi tội lỗi, sai lầm. Stuart không được liên lạc với cảnh sát, và buộc phải thú nhận tất cả lừa dối của anh với Kelly và Pam, nếu không làm theo anh sẽ bị bắn hạ ngay lập tức.
