Lấy bối cảnh trên hành tinh Zi xa xôi, câu chuyện mở ra trong một thế giới nơi những sinh vật cơ sinh học được gọi là Zoids đóng vai trò là vũ khí mạnh mẽ trong cuộc xung đột lâu dài giữa Cộng hòa Helic và Đế chế Guylos. Một lệnh ngừng bắn mong manh vẫn được duy trì, nhưng căng thẳng gia tăng và sự trở lại của công nghệ Zoidian cổ đại đe dọa đẩy cả hai quốc gia trở lại chiến tranh.
