故事发生在意大利罗马，讲述了两个截然不同的人因命运而交织在一起的冒险。梅 (Mei) 是一位身手不凡的年轻中国女子，她千里迢迢来到罗马寻找失踪的姐姐。马塞洛 (Marcello) 则是一个典型的罗马厨师，正苦苦支撑着一家负债累累的家庭餐馆，他的父亲不久前同一个中国女人私奔后人间蒸发。 为了寻找各自的亲人，梅和马塞洛被迫联手。线索将他们引向了一家名为“紫禁城”的神秘中餐馆，那里表面上生意兴隆，实则是罗马地下犯罪网络的掩护所。在这场东西方文化（以及拳脚）的激烈碰撞中，两人不仅要对抗凶狠的黑帮，还要克服彼此的语言障碍和文化偏见，并在战火中萌生了意想不到的情愫。
