Nana (Anna Karinová) je krásná dvacetiletá Pařížanka, která záměrně opustí svého manžela i malého synka, aby se mohla stát herečkou. S tím málem, co si jako prodavačka vydělá, se však nemůže pustit do uskutečnění svého snu, a proto se rozhodne získat peníze prostitucí. Brzy se jí ujme pasák Raoul, který ji naučí všechny triky, bez nichž se v tomhle byznysu neobejde. Po čase se Nana zamiluje do mladého umělce a pokusí se s prostitucí skoncovat. Raoul však nehodlá pustit jednu ze svých nejlukrativnějších komodit z ruky...
