Lammasfarmarit ja veljekset Gummi ja Kiddi eivät ole pukahtaneet sanaakaan toisilleen neljäänkymmeneen vuoteen, vaikka asuvat naapureina ja kisaavat vuosittain komeimman rotupässin kasvatuksesta. Välillä Gummi lähettää koirapostia veljelleen tai poimii tämän sammuneena hangesta traktorinsa kauhaan turvaan. Melankolisen taivaan alla pesii kuitenkin basilli: Kiddin palkintosarvipäätä uhkaa tauti, jonka voi pysäyttää vain lahtaamalla kaikki laakson kiharaturkit. Stoalaisen pohdiskelevalle Gummille lammaskatras on kuin perhe, ja hän tajuaa, että jotain on tehtävä. Kiddi tempaisee pakon edessä oven auki ulkorapulla seisovalle harmaapartaiselle miehelle. Mykkäkoulun on pakko loppua, sillä heidän on nyt pelastettava kaikkein kallisarvoisin omaisuutensa, rakkaat lampaansa.
